Within the central area as at 4 February 2026 there are approximately 13,750 car parks which are accessible to members of the public for short term hire, both in the commercially run parking buildings such as Wilsons and inclusive of 4096 on-street parking spaces. Shown by type in the table below.

For the purpose of parking, the central area is defined as being bound by: The State Highway to the west, Webb Street to the south, Kent Terrace to the east and the harbour’s edge. (The area includes the paid parking along Oriental Parade too).
